The Roadster’s 1,280kg weight (same as coupe) was achieved with the help of a redesigned chassis.

Italian marque Pagani has unveiled a new convertible version of its Utopia hypercar. Called the Utopia Roadster, it is limited to just 130 units and makes use of the same V12 powertrain as the standard Utopia.

  2. Gets the same 6.0-litre V12 twin-turbo engine as coupe version

Pagani Utopia Roadster: what’s new?

The biggest change, of course, is the convertible roof. The Utopia Roadster’s hardtop roof features a glass panel that can be removed or put in place. The hard-top can be placed on a stand when not in use. In addition, Pagani has equipped the Utopia Roadster with a soft-top behind the seats for instances when the weather changes while on the move.

Pagani says that it had to redesign the Utopia’s monocoque chassis entirely to optimize rigidity and resistance, without resorting to the heavy reinforcements required when the roof of a car is chopped off. Hence, the Roadster maintains the same 1,280kg dry weight as the coupe version.

The Utopia Roadster makes use of the same Mercedes-AMG-sourced 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine as the coupe, putting out 863hp and 1,100Nm of peak torque with rear-wheel drive. The engine is mated to a 7-speed gated manual transmission, along with an optional 7-speed AMT gearbox with paddle shifters. The Utopia Roadster has an electronically limited top speed of 350kph.

Pagani Utopia Roadster: price

The ultra-rare Utopia Roadster is priced from €3.1 million, which converts to around Rs 28 crore. The convertible hypercar will make its official global debut during Monterey Car Week next month.
